2023 Summer League Tournament Format

The summer league is intended to get students involved and prepared for the upcoming Golf Season. We will have 2 categories for Summer League Competition. OPEN Division & 2nd Flight Division

OPEN DIVISION 

• Returning Varsity Players, Returning JV Players competing for varsity positions, New Players with a handicap of 18 or better (can shoot sub-90)

• 4 Official Rounds of Golf (72-holes) available. We will use lowest 3 rounds scored in Summer Tournament Play. Minimum 3 rounds to qualify for Open Division Championship (so must participate in at least 3 rounds, no substitutions)

• Stroke Play (double-par max hole scoring) Rules. All holes putt-out.

• Award for champion and 1st runner-up. Choice of Tee-time for Golf Tryouts

2nd FLIGHT DIVISION 

• Returning JV/Developmental Players competing for golf team positions for new school year, New Players with a handicap of 18 or higher (90+)

• 9-hole scoring for rounds played in Summer Tournament Play. If you play a full round, front-9 and back-9 will count as separate scores. We will use the best four 9-hole scores for your summer league total strokes. This will demonstrate what you are capable of shooting. A Minimum five 9-hole rounds must be played to qualify for 2nd Flight Division Championship (so must participate in at least 3 summer league weeks, no substitutions)

• Stroke Play (double-par max hole scoring) Rules. All holes putt-out.

• Award for champion. Choice of Tee-time for Golf Tryouts.

Game Days: Tee Times and Locations

• Coaches will work with the Golf Courses to set up times to play:

• Coach Vu will determine Tee Boxes, Pin Prizes each week (closest to Pin, Long-Drive in Fairway)

  1. Our goal is to set up two (2) Tee Times at or around 1pm every Wednesday.  We will adjust as needed and/or requested.

  2. It is your responsibility to arrange transportation to and from the course. 

  3. Coaches will send a Google with dates, times and location of play. Please accept if you plan on going so we have an idea of who to expect.

• Student players will be responsible for all fees. We will strive to play YOC courses, so you only pay $5 per round. 

• You are responsible for your own transportation - getting there and back. If you cannot drive, I encourage you to coordinate and carpool with other parents/students. 

• Golf Days: Wednesdays

  1. June 28th - Summer League Kick Off: Top Golf Thornton, noon-2pm.

  2. July 5th Summer League Round 1 (Thorncreek GC, 1:00 Tee Times, YOC, RSVP)

  3. July 12th Summer League Round 2 (TBD)

  4. July 19th Summer League Round 3 (TBD)

  5. July 26th Summer League Round 4 (TBD)

  6. July 31st FIRST DAY OF THE SEASON & TRYOUTS
