Please contact Head Coach William Kipp for 2024-25 Golf Season information.
Make sure to let your teachers know that you are in the golf team and what your schedule will be.
Let them know when you will be playing on tournaments, and therefore out of class.
Make a plan with your teachers that satisfy your teachers needs, i.e. get materials, homework assignments, lab work in advance so you can complete this outside class.
Communicate with the Coach if you need help managing your school and team schedules.
Practices will be scheduled according to Coaches availability and discretion. Please view the calendar regularly as practice dates and tournament participants may be added or changed without prior notice. Remember to look at the calendar's description: If your name is in there, your attendance is required.
With this, our season is finished, we just have our banquet/closing ceremony to make it official, more on this below.
As a first year coach, I did not what to expect but I have to say it was an incredibly fulfilling experience. I look forward to doing it again next year!

We played our last Invitational of the year in a really, really cold day at Twin Peaks Golf Course. Golfers played in 45 deg weather and completed a round of golf in a wet and windy day. Congratulations to the team on a good performance!
We are planning on playing a 'Beat The Coach Tournament' (noon-ish) followed by a potluck and closing ceremony (6:30ish) on October 14th - Save the Date!
The BTC tournament is being organized by Chris Celano with the help of the Varsity/Regionals Team. Sara Briner will help organize the potluck so we have enough drinks, snacks, food and deserts for everyone... Please stay tuned.
At the moment we do not have a location for our potluck as the school is not available to us on this date. I am looking for a nearby Golf Course that will allow us to play and potluck in the same place. Alternatively, we will meet at a different location after our game. If you know of a location where we can meet, please let me know - a neighborhood clubhouse, a park or anywhere you think may work is welcome :)
On the day of the banquet, be prepared to return:
Golf Bags
Range Finders
Stretching sticks

CHS Mini-Tournament
"Golf is an amazing game. There is perhaps no other activity that brings us into such close contact with ourselves. Unlike other sports, the pace at which it golf unfolds makes it impossible for us to turn away from our minds."
- excerpt from 'Every shot must have a purpose' by Pia Nilsson and Lynn Marriott.
We played our regional tournament in Denver's Overland Park Golf Course last Wednesday. Our Team played a competitive field. Owen B and Will Kelly offered a good performance and played to their yearly average score. Ryan Vaver and Matthew Grant came in above that. A special thank you to Will K. who attend our match on a last minute notice, substituting for for Jeffrey S. who unfortunately was sick and not able to play.
No new news to report- still considering one final golf outing for the team and a potluck afterwards on the week of October 7th or 14th of October... more next week.
We are playing our final Match on Monday September 30th @4:30pm: Ryan Vaver VS Asa Wentworth/Noah Schwam.
Please help me improve this program by completing 2-question survey.
CHS Mini-Tournament
We have a Finalist match and we'll play our last match on 9/30.
It is a contradiction to think that while on the golf course, you must only think about golf.
The chicken and the egg: Did you enjoy the day because you played well or did you play well because you were enjoying the day?
Think back on those days when you played your best rounds of golf and you will probably notice that you were relaxed... that were your thoughts on that day?.
We played at the Olde Course in Loveland (for the third time this season) and our players showed up! Matthew G scored a personal best with and 84 and came in 9th place overall. Ryan V came in slightly above his average with an 85 and landed in 10th place overall. Owen B scored an 87, three strokes below his average and placed 12th overall, and Will K our guest JrV with his average of 98 placed 26th overall. The team came in 6th place overall.
This is our last meet of the year - WOW - we are done! Today the team came in 5th place overall (out of 10 teams). Our noted individual performances were Ryan V who shot a 78 and placed 4th place overall. Matthew Grant landed in 11th place with an 83, a season best (again!).
Please help me improve this program by completing 2-question survey.
Is it time to start thinking about our Closing Banquet? I am leaning towards keeping it simple and considering one final golf outing for the team and a potluck afterwards on the week of October 7th or 14th of October.

I wanted to share this Chinese Fable. Take look and let me know what you think.
What happens if you change your body posture?
What happens when you keep your eyes on the horizon and move slowly?
What happens when you start humming your favorite song?
What happens when you visualize a great shot?
What happens when you experience the feeling you had last time you hit a good 5-iron?
"Remember, the game is simple. The ball doesn't move. It simply sits and waits" - Bagger Vance, Fictionalized Caddie.
last week we played at Ute Creek. It was a great day with good weather, until rain and lightning came towards the end of the round. Our round was suspended for about 30 minutes. The team came in 5th place overall. Individually Owen B who had a personal best with an 84, Asa W shot his average and the rest of the team slightly above their average.
Thank you Kirstin Vaver for organizing this event. Our fundraiser raised $164.84 dollars. This money will go towards food during and after tournaments, our Banquet and help with next years Summer League. A big THANK YOU to everyone that participated!
CHSAA requires an independent scorer to be provided by each school to follow each playing group. This person may be a parent and is required to enter hole by hole scores into Iwanamaker. If you are interested in participating, please contact the Coach.
For all practical matters we are at the end of our golf season. During Week 7 we will wrap up our Leagues meet series, our min-tournament and the regular practice schedule. The following week, Regionals Week, we will have one practice for JrV and Dev teams on Thursday Sept 26th. We still have an Invite match where JrV's and Developmentals will play on October 2nd.
Is it time to start thinking about our Closing Banquet? I am open for suggestions: We could do something at the School or at Indian Peaks, or get creative and try something more fun like TopGolf?
Its been great watching the team play this tournament. We did have an unforeseen delay as one of our players was sick last week. We'll play adjust and complete the tournament as time permits.

Practice Round set for Monday September 23rd at 10am - meet at the white bus at 8am.
Once you completed last weeks preparation assignment, see if you can correlate Overland Park's holes to an Indian Peaks hole.
For example, playing Hole ?? at Overland Park is most similar to playing hole ?? at Indian Peaks.
I wanted to share this Chinese Fable. Take look and let me know what you think.
Today I will play each shot as it if will only happen once.
Today after every shot I will react with a happy or neutral state.
On every shot I will make a clear decision and have the guts to go through with the decision
I will do my pre-shot routine on every shot for all eighteen holes
I will make my post shot routine positive
We have our fundraiser next week on September 10th from 5-7 pm. We will have no practice on this day so you can all go and help out with this event. Remember to invite your neighbours, friends and family. Take a moment now to share our fundraiser with your friends.
It was our turn to host our yearly League Meet at our own Indian Peaks golf course. We played on a cool mid 80's degree day. I want to extend a special mention to our scorers for the day: Hudson F., Trent T, Lawson M., Noah S. and Kaden P. Also noted Will K. as a coaches assistant for the tournament. You did a great job and helped this tournament run smoothly - League coaches noticed and were grateful for your help.
Varsity Team: We came in in second place overall. Achievements for the day, Jeffrey S who tied his best round of the year, Owen B with a season best, Ryan V bested his season average by 1 stroke, and Matthew G who matched his season average.
It was a hot day that reached 99 degrees in Greeley, CO. Our Varsity team played a tough game on a hard course and finished in fourth place overall. Individually we came in 15th, 15th, 19th, 23rd and 29th on a field of 40 players. On this day our team finished tired and felt defeated, but I have to say that you showed courage and grit and finished strong. Congratulations!
We are approaching the end of our golf season. Regionals are around the corner and as it is we will start focusing on improving our chances at a States appearance. Practices will start winding down after next week and culminating with our Niwot Invitational tournament October 2nd. More to come ...
Ryan V and Owen B have organized a mini-tournament to be played by the CHS Boys Golf Team. The tournament will be comprised of two player teams and will be a scramble (best ball) format, single elimination, match play tournament. Starting next week, during practices, we will start our bracket matches. make sure to visit our Calendar to see when you are playing and make sure to show up on time and ready to play.
When: September 25th - 8am shotgun start.

If you can, Go Play the curses before our practice round Coordinate with the rest of the Varsity Team and go play the course to become more familiar with it.
Driver off the Tee (miss left). 9 Iron second shot (mis short right).
Do you notice the wind, its direction and intensity before very shot?

What is your personality type? - If you dont know, and with your parents permission, you can visit www.16personalities.com and find out.
We took four Varsity players and two Coaches to the Walt Clark Invitational in Loveland this week. Our team played a good round of golf and we came in 13th place out of 21 teams. Our top two Individual performance came it at 24rd and 49th place out of 86 competitors. It was a nice day and we celebrated with a little Ice Cream afterwards!
Due to Monday Sept 2nd is a holiday we will not be running a practice on this day. I encourage you to go play or practice on your own since we have a tournament on Tuesday - If you'd like, I would be happy to join you at the driving range or play a friendly round of golf - let me know.
This week we will have our own Centaurus League Meet on Tuesday September 3rd. All team members are required to participate, weather by playing, scoring or helping around the course during the tournament. A separate email has been sent with more information - there will be no practice on this day!
Starting this week in preparation for our upcoming Regional tournament on September 25th I will update the teams makeup to be as follows: 4 Varsity Players, 5 JrV Players and 6 Developmentals - this affects practices and tournaments. Remember to look at the calendar description for the practices/tournaments: If your name is in there, your attendance is required.
Last week we had students requesting to make tee times and play golf instead of attending practice. Even though I can understand the logic behind this, this would be considered an unexcused absence for the student. With this, I'd like you all to take a look at the Golf Team Attendance Policies -please take special attention to the excused/unexcused absences and what documentation is needed in case of an excused absence.
You know that feeling when you do something, like a summer vacation or dinner with friends, seems like it is going really slow, yet afterwards, it feels like it went by really fast?
Is there a difference between objective time (i.e. clock) and subjective time (i.e. how fast time seems to go by)?
Varsity Team: It was hot, really HOT! Our highlight for this day was Jeffrey S. coming in 15th place (out of 40 players) with a score of 88, a personal best - Congratulations!
Jr. Varsity and Developmental teams had their first tournament of the year in Greeley last Monday. This was a great learning experience for all players that attended the meet.
Process, Process, Process - we have t let go of the things of which we have not control.
Avoid getting in your own way - Because the thinking part of the game and the playing part of the game are cousins, not siblings.
If Buddha played golf he would interpret a boguey as just part of golf. He would accept it or laugh at it.
Why is it hard to let go?
Golf like a Nascar Driver - Because driving at the highest speeds, a NASCAR driver needs to trust his unconscious mind rather than just trying to keep up with conscious thinking.
Experience tells you what to do, you dont have to think about it. You certainly can't control it so you go along for the ride (David Toms)
One of my keys is to give up control to gain control (Scott McCarron)
You go back to the basic fundamentals you've been working on. You just focus on those and go ahead and trust it and mae a good swing... it happens so fast you give that control awasiya a little bit and go ahead and trust it (Jim Furyk)
Varsity Team came in 4th place at the Niwot League Tournament with a score of +72 over par. This is a better performance from last weeks +77 over par - Great work Team!
Jr Varsity Team came in 3rd Place (to the best of our knowledge) at the Bear Scramble Invite with a score of 1 under par.
USGA Rules: We had a two stroke penalty imposed on a player for hitting a ball at rest while putting - lesson learned - ask a fellow competitor to mark their ball if there is a chance you will hit it with you ball (from on the green). This rule does not apply if you are hitting the ball from off the green.

100% effortless - there is no try, there is no anything - it just is, it just happens. (Charles Holwell III)
Calmness, no panic, everything is under control. When effort and talent comes together is when you reach flow (Hal Sutton)
